Christians celebrate God's creation at Norwich Pride

Christians will taking part in the Norwich Pride March on Saturday July 29 to “celebrate God’s creation and humanity in all its diversity” and they are inviting others to join them.

As well as joining in the march, there will be a stall outside St Peter Mancroft church and the Diocese of Norwich has given a £300 grant from its 'Sharing Good News budget’
Paul Overend, Lay Development Officer for the Diocese of Norwich, said: “Each year there has been a faith presence in Norwich Pride. This year we’re attempting to make the Christian presence a bit more affirming of God’s creation from a distinctively Christian perspective, while offering God’s welcome to LGBT people.”
Clergy and lay people are invited to join them and there will be representation from Created, a group of LGBT people in the Norwich area.
Paul said: “Anglican Archbishops have called for a radical new Christian inclusion in the church. Archbishop Justin has said, ‘To deal with … disagreement, to find ways forward, we need a radical new Christian inclusion in the Church. This must be founded in scripture, in reason, in tradition, in theology; it must be based on good, healthy, flourishing relationships, and in a proper 21st century understanding of being human and of being sexual.
‘The way forward needs to be about love, joy and celebration of our humanity; of our creation in the image of God, of our belonging to Christ – all of us, without exception, without exclusion.’
“Our participation in Norwich Pride will be opportunity to celebrate God's creation in all its diversity, and to demonstrate our love, support and welcome of all people,” said Paul.
“This is not an official 'Diocesan event', nor should it be taken to represent an official position or mind of the Diocese, but is an invitation to individuals, who would like to attend, to join with other Christians participating in this event together.”
