Christian Football League needs youth players
The football season is well under way for players and supporters of the 23 Christian teams playing in the Norfolk Christian Combined Adult and Youth League (NCCAYL) but there are still spaces for a few youth players. writes Kevin Timewell-Read.
The league, which has over 500 players, includes 12 mens teams playing eleven-a-side games and 38 youth teams playing seven-a-side football at a variety of venues around the Norwich area. Split into divisions at under 10, under 12, under 14, under 16 and adult level, teams play regular league matches plus cup competitions and five-a-side tournaments later in the season.
The league is also encouraging the development of women's football between churches and a recent friendly between Norwich Central Baptist Church and Cambridge City Life Church ended in a 2 - 2 draw.
Youth Players wanted
Most squads have enough players this season but there are two or three boys sides at under 12 and under 14 level who are looking for players.
Perhaps you know of a lad in your street aged between 10 and 13 who would love a chance to play but is unable to get into a Sunday League team for a variety of reasons. There may also be a lad in your church or youth club who would enjoy a forty minute game of seven a side football on a Saturday morning but your fellowship or church does not have a team? Players do not have to be connected with the church who sponsors their team and players of all abilities are welcome.
If you know a young player who is interested in joining a team, please contact the league by e-mailing the League Youth Chairman, giving the player's name, date of birth, the postcode of his address and a landline contact number and he will pass the details onto the nearest team.
