Norwich gets Parsons' inside track on teenagers
2009: International speaker and family expert Rob Parsons
comes to Norwich
to give parents the inside track on how to get themelves and their youngsters through the turbulent teenage years.
The teenage years can be difficult - for everyone involved! Sometimes as a parent you can feel that nothing you do has any impact. You reach out to your teen who seems to have entered outer space and is struggling with stress, mood swings, peer pressure and self-esteem issues, and you get rewarded with a series of grunts. Sound familiar? You’re not alone.
Packed full of down-to-earth ideas, humour and most of all hope, Teenagers! What Every Parent Has to Know will be at Norwich’s new youth venue, OPEN, 20 Bank Plain, NR2 4SF, on Wednesday, 24 June from 7.30-10pm. Topics covered include:
- Why life is harder for today's teenagers
- Ways to deal with the testing child
- Why reading your child's school report can fool you
- What's going on in your teenager's brain?
- How to choose which battles to fight
- Why teenage boys sometimes seem to hate their mothers
- The greatest need of every teenager
Rob urges parents to “remember it’s not easy for them either – research shows that it‘s not only their bodies that are changing, but their brains are changing as well. This is why it’s harder to communicate with them. What matters is just to get them through the tough times.”
Prima magazine said, “In the battleground that is parenting Rob Parsons is a veteran!”
This is one of the first events at the new OPEN Youth venue, run by the OPEN Youth Trust. Organised by Care for the Family, it’s aimed at parents from church and non-church backgrounds.
Tickets usually cost £6 each, but for this event, you can buy two or more tickets for just £5 each.
