deacons092009: The Bishop of Norwich, the Rt Revd Graham James, has ordained four new deacons in Norwich Cathedral.

Dawn Davidson will serve in Mulbarton with Kenningham, Bracon Ash, Hethel and Flordon. Dawn spent her childhood overseas and returned to the United Kingdom at the age of 17. She is married to Tim and has a son, Joel. Dawn designed and has made her own deacon's stole (white 'scarf' worn by those who are ordained) together with the stoles of the other three deacons being ordained alongside her.

Robert Hume, will serve in Ashmanaugh, Barton Turf, Beeston St Lawrence, Horning, Irstead and Neatishead. Rob is a retired school teacher.

Garry Goodman and Penny Goodman (husband and wife) will serve together in the Bure Valley Benefice (Buxton and surrounding parishes). Gary has worked in the chaplaincy team at Rowan House near Norwich, a specialist independent hospital caring for adults with challenging behaviour as a result of learning difficulties. Penny used to be a midwife. Garry and Penny were foster parents for a number of years.
