New life for West Norfolk Christian couple
2010: Downham Market Christian Fellowship’s Guy and Susanna Bastable have said goodbye to the UK and moved to Kenya, to help abandoned babies and other children in desperate need.
Guy and Susanna are working for New Life Home Trust, a charity which provides residential care for around 170 babies and young children in five homes across Kenya, and feeds and educates 1,000 children on a daily basis.
The couple are intending that the move to Kenya is permanent. They are working as Assistant Directors of the charity, making use of their wide-ranging skills, including Susanna’s training as a nurse and Guy’s expertise in marketing.
Moving with them were Guy and Susanna’s daughter Farrah (18) and their two adopted Kenyan sons, Levi (8) and Gerro (7), who were abandoned as babies and rescued by New Life Home Trust. They have left behind three adult children and three grandchildren.
Guy said, “We wholeheartedly believe in the work that New Life Home Trust does – literally saving lives every day, with uncompromising integrity and compassion. We are looking forward to ploughing our energy and experience into helping them.”
If you would like to find out more about the charity, volunteer to go out to Kenya to work with them, make a donation, or sponsor a child for just £6 a month, go to www.newlifehometrust.org.uk, call the charity’s UK office on 020 8668 6260, or email Guy at firstname.lastname@example.org.
