Bragg & Dawkins discuss faith at Holt Festival
2014 - Broadcaster Melvyn Bragg and scientist Richard Dawkins are to meet for the first time for a public conversation and exchange of views on Sunday as part of the Holt Festival.
has written several bestselling works of non fiction - On Giants Shoulders, 12 Books That Changed The World, The Adventures of English and In Our Time. His acclaimed novels include The Hired Man, A Place in England, Kingdom Come and Grace and Mary.
Though an admirer of Richard Dawkins' work in science, he has been highly critical of "the furious effort to raze religion from the surface of the earth".
World-famous scientist Richard Dawkins
first catapulted to fame with his iconic book The Selfish Gene, which he followed with a string of bestselling books, including the phenomenal The God Delusion, in which he presents his arguments for atheism.
In 2013, he was voted the world's top thinker in Prospect Magazine's poll of 10,000 readers from over 100 countries, beating four Nobel Prize winners to the top spot.
