Dance shows available to Norwich community
A student dance club from UEA is offering the Norwich Christian community the chance to receive a show or workshop at their local church or group.
UEA Dancesport is a student-held University club, offering ten standard Ballroom and Latin dances to their members including Waltz, Quickstep and Viennese Waltz for Ballroom and Cha and Jive for Latin. They also offer Rock ‘n’ Roll workshops to anyone who wishes to learn. These are taught on a weekly basis in classes for all levels led by professional and world-class teachers. Many of the club's members start as absolute beginners and work their way to further advanced levels.
Every year, the club hosts a dance competition at the Sportspark at UEA in January. Competitors from universities in Cambridge, Nottingham, Leicester, Southampton, Kent and London come to Norwich to compete against each other. The club also organises and hosts UEA's answer to Strictly Come Dancing - Strictly UEA! Competitors from sports clubs across the university compete in front of a panel of judges and an audience. The primary aim of the event is to build relationships between the clubs as well as a fundraising activity for both UEA DanceSport and the other clubs.
Sophie Whiteside, President of UEA Dancesport said, "UEA Dancesport is always looking for new ways to volunteer locally and to encourage others to have a go at ballroom dancing."
UEA Dancesport are inviting any groups in the Norfolk Christian community who would like UEA Dancesport to provide a show, demonstration or workshop to get in touch. They do not charge for this but would welcome donations. If you are interested, please contact Sophie on firstname.lastname@example.org
