South Norfolk church offers free gap year

Hope Community Church in Wymondham is offering young people aged 18-24 the opportunity to spend a year experiencing a range of different ministry opportunities while receiving support and training.

Every September Hope Community Church in Wymondham welcomes a small team of gap year students to work with the church and to help do what God has called the church to do.

The Impress programme is an opportunity for young people aged 18-24 years old to grow by spending a gap year with the church experiencing different ministry opportunities. The programme follows the academic year from September to August.

Hope Community Church is a vibrant and growing Christian community that is made up of local people of all ages and walks of life. Over 200 people engage each Sunday in enthusiastic meetings which have a contemporary feel with modern worship, a focus on teaching God’s word and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide.

Each Impress student will live with a host family, receive training and lots of experience and opportunity to serve the church, including with children and young people.

Areas of service/learning may include any of the following activities:

  • training
  • worship
  • schools work
  • administration and IT
  • youth or children's work
  • ministry training programmes
  • technical support across sound, lighting and video
  • community projects
  • event organisation
  • caring groups
  • creative arts
  • outreach

The skills the successful candidate can gain are much in demand. These include time management, working in teams, planning and thinking under pressure. Perhaps the greatest benefit is the increase in confidence and good practice which comes from tackling challenges and succeeding within an environment of grace.

Hope Community Church does not ask for sponsorship or fees.

To explore the Impress programme in more detail and to receive an application form please contact Hope Community Church office by email at or telephone 01953 798505. For more details of Hope Community Church check out the website

Do you appreciate our service and stories?

The Network Norwich & Norfolk website has been published for over 13 years now and we have an established team of professional journalists covering the activities, organisations and churches which make up the county’s Christian community. Our whole purpose is to support that community by daily providing accurate, unbiased stories and features.

To pay for that service, we rely on our partner organisations, advertisers and readers to, in turn, support us financially. We want to keep the website free for everyone to access and continue to be able to pay for writers to produce the content you can enjoy every day.

We would like to ask you to consider supporting our work and suggest you might want to make a small regular donation of just £1 a week and become one of our 100 Friends, or a larger one-off or annual amount.

Because we are part of a registered charity we can reclaim Gift Aid on your donations if you are a tax-payer.
