All-night youth event set for Norwich Cathedral

Christian youth leaders and young people of all denominations are invited to a special all-night youth event at Norwich Cathedral which will include worship led by Encounter, Soul Circus, Taizé and a performance by Christian rap artist Guvna B.

This 12-hour lock-in event, starting at 8pm on Friday September 23 will see the Cathedral transformed into different 'zones' where young people can engage with a range of activities including: Worship, Prayer Space, Performance, Creativity, Social Action, Vocations, Sports, Diary Room, Pampering and possibly Sleep.

A pop up café area will be serving drinks and snacks throughout the night and the event will finish with a breakfast served at 6.30am and Morning Prayer at 7.30am reflecting the Cathedral tradition.

Cathedral@Night, which leads into the annual Bishop’s Pilgrimage Day taking place on Saturday September 24, has been organised by Rev Canon Andrew Bryant in partnership with other organisations and volunteers including the Diocese of Norwich Children Youth and Families Team, Norwich YFC, St Thomas’ Church Norwich, Young Norfolk Arts Festival and Soul Circus.

Canon Andrew said: “Cathedral at Night promises to be a great occasion full of fun, fellowship and faith. It is an opportunity for youth groups and individuals from all Christian denominations and walks of life to meet together, strengthen bonds within existing groups, and make new friends. The Cathedral is an important place for community and worship and we hope the event will restore the link between faith and fun and through their enjoyment the young people will see their Cathedral in a completely new light.”

Cathedral@Night is an ecumenical event open to all young people. Young people are encouraged to come with their youth group and accompanying youth leaders, however if you know a young person who would like to come but who isn't linked to a youth group, that's absolutely fine too!
