Brass band and tree festival ends church anniversary
St George's Catholic Church on Sprowston Road in Norwich rounds off its 50th anniversary year of celebrations with its first ever Christmas Tree Festival and Brass Band Christmas concert from Saturday December 10 to Monday December 12.
“After a wonderful year of events at St George's, this will be a fitting finale with our first ever Christmas Tree Festival and Christmas Brass Band concert. The church will look magnificent and what a better way to get into the mood for Christmas,” said St George's events committee member, Mark Pointer.
The Christmas Tree Festival consists of 30 trees supporting local charities and clubs, including the magnificent “Livability Knitted Christmas Tree”, Leeway and the Norfolk and Norwich Association for the Blind.
The Festival will be open to the public from 10am until 5pm on Saturday 10 and Monday December 12 and from Noon until 5pm on Sunday 11 – with refreshments and food available on all three days.
On the evening of Saturday December 10, at 7.30pm, St George's is delighted to welcome the excellent Hellesdon and Sprowston Brass Band, who will be performing a Christmas Concert against the backdrop of the Christmas Tree Festival, with mulled wine and mince pies at the interval.
Ticket prices for the concert, at £6 adults and £3 for under-18s, are available at St George's Parish Office by phone on 01603 426971 or via firstname.lastname@example.org, or on the night.
Parishioners, Sarah Rhoades and daughter Scarlett, decorate a tree for the St George’s festival.
