Norwich foodbank hosts open days at warehouse

If you would like to learn more about the work of Norwich foodbank, see where your donations go and hear about the step by step process of how donations get to clients, go along to one of the upcoming open half days at their warehouse.

On Monday, July 17 from 4pm—8pm and on Wednesday, August 16 from 8am—2pm Norwich foodbank will be opening up their warehouse to the public and inviting along key supporters to see exactly what happens from when an item arrives to when it gets to a client in need.
Norwich foodbank Project Manager Hannah Worsley said: “We often host interested groups at our warehouse as they learn more about our work through seeing and talking, and engaging in hands-on activities. We have often been asked by individuals if they can come and see what we do and where their donations go so we’re holding two half open days to invite you along to come and find out!”
During the open half days there will be regular, informal talks from Hannah Worsley as well as Warehouse and Transport Manager Pat Moore to explain each step of the process.

There will be a quiz that will lead visitors around the different areas, a competition to see who can pack a single food box correctly and in the quickest time and a ‘distribution centre area’ so the final step of the process can be experienced, when a client would receive their parcel—and all the bits in between!
The warehouse is based in Unit 14 in the Henderson Business Estate, Ivy Road, NR5 8BF.
There is plenty of parking at Henderson Trust both on Ivy Road and also in two carparks at the end of Ivy Road. There are bus stops along Bowthorpe Road, with one very near the Ivy Road entrance, on First buses routes 21 and 22.
