Be stirred at Sheringham church

2017: Following the inspiring visits this summer by Helen Roberts and Debra Green, Lighthouse Community Church in Sheringham has lined up two more worship evenings with high profile speakers to take place in September and October. Tony Rothe reports.

Collectively known as Stir 17, these evenings are open to everyone, but aimed particularly at encouraging and inspiring Christians from churches in North Norfolk and across the county.

Ross Christine Paterson 600CRoss & Christine Paterson, pictured right, will be speaking on Sunday September 3. Ross and Christine have spent over 40 years of their lives on the mission field serving the Lord and the Church in China. Ross’s original call from God, in the early 1960’s, was to serve China  -  her people and her Church. He has been faithful to that call, going to Taiwan as a missionary in 1969.

Ross and Christine want to use this season of their active ministry to mobilize and equip Eastern and Western believers to be involved in cross-cultural mission.  Field Partner International has been established to that end, providing online training resources for cross-cultural workers.

They are currently based in Taiwan, working as mission consultants with a global ministry. Ross travels across several nations, preaching and teaching, often with Christine.  It is their desire to see God’s Word brought back to its rightful place in the Body of Christ and have a deep burden for world mission.

This year’s Stir 17 season will be rounded off on Sunday October 8 with a visit by Dave Bell and The Moment Band, pictured above. Dave is a musician, singer-songwriter, worship leader and author. He is Worship Pastor at Alive Church in Lincoln and frequently involved in The One Event. His ministry takes him all over the world, leading worship with The Moment. Dave is married to Sarah and they have two young sons, Jackson and Levi and a little girl called Mayah.

Dave says “From an early age, each member of the team has felt the call of God on their life to music and worship.  God has brought us together to not only be great friends but to create a vehicle that allows people’s attention to be fixed on Jesus. Jesus is passing by, and we believe our mandate is to not let people miss the Moment.  This vehicle of worship then allows us to share our stories of hope that in turn will bring hope in some hopeless situations.”

Ian Savory, senior pastor at Lighthouse Community Church, said “With these Stir 17 events, we will be hearing other Christians tell their story and sharing their perspective on what God is doing in our day and in their area of influence. We are asking God to build faith among us for what He can do in North Norfolk and beyond.”

The Stir 17 evenings start at 7pm, with coffee from 6.30pm. The venue is Lighthouse, 62 Cromer Road, Sheringham, NR26 8RT.
