Norfolk Christian charity serving Gambia needs help
The Christian charity Gambian Aid Through Education, based in Mid Norfolk, is changing the lives of hundreds of women and children in one of the poorest countries in the world. They are currently appealing for volunteers to join the team in a range of big and small roles.
The Christian charity Gambian Aid Through Education (GATE) has transformed thousands of lives in one of the poorest countries in the world by building wells, supplying allotments, sponsoring the schooling of children, funding mosquito nets and installing milling machines.
The Trustees are currently seeking volunteers to join the team in a range of roles as follows:
Trustee / Secretary
This will involve answering letters, acknowledging donations, managing the Facebook page, banking and transferring money when need.
Claiming Gift Aid
GATE is a small charity with an annual turnover of around £20k. They currently put a Gift Aid claim in every three months.
Managing Child Sponsorship Records
GATE needs someone to allocate children to sponsors, send an acknowledgement letter to new sponsors, send reminders to those who do not pay by standing order, send out photos, reports and letters from students twice a year when they arrive from The Gambia.
GATE needs people to man their craft stall at fairs one or two days a year to raise vital funds. This requires someone able to transport the stock and lift the boxes.
GATE would love someone to design our posters – this can be done remotely by email.
Packing Boxes of Clothing
This both helps local people in The Gambia and saves old clothes going to landfill. If you live close to Mattishall / Dereham can you spend two or three hours a month to help with sorting and packing materials to send to The Gambia?
If you live outside of Mid Norfolk would you be willing to organize the occasional fundraiser such as a coffee morning? GATE can supply materials to promote what you do.
If are able to help this small Christian charity carry out its vital work in communities in The Gambia please contact GambianAid@gmail.com.
