Lynn churches unite in prayer for unusual kindness

The Bishop of Lynn will lead one of eight daily services from January 18-25 held in seven different churches across King's Lynn plus the Winter Night Shelter, as Christians from the town join together to pray for unity, reconciliation and unusual kindness.

Churches Together in King’s Lynn are preparing for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity from Saturday, January 18 – Saturday, January 25 with a series of daily services held in churches across the town.

Peter Coates, Secretary of Churches Together in King’s Lynn said: “The theme for January 2020 is based on Acts 27 and 28: ‘Once we had come safely through, we discovered that the island was called Malta. The inhabitants treated us with unusual kindness.’ I hope that people from all churches will be able to come along.”

A half-hour service led by Pastor Vince Proffit at Calvary Chapel will begin the Week of Prayer on Saturday, January 18, 12.30pm-1pm.  A service at King's Lynn Minster led by Canon Christopher Ivory will conclude the events on the following Saturday.  Services will also be held at King’s Lynn Baptist Church, St Faith’s Gaywood, St Peter’s Church, King’s Lynn Christian Fellowship and the King’s Lynn Winter Night Shelter.

On Sunday, January 19 the St John the Evangelist Church will host an evening service starting at 5pm with Rt Rev Jonathan Meyrick, Bishop of Lynn preaching on the theme.
