Quiet Waters offers retreat with needle and thread

The team at Quiet Waters in Bungay are organising a Zoom retreat entitled ‘One at a Time’ around the theme of hand-stitching. They lay out their idea below.

Since we have been unable to attend retreats physically this year, we offer this as a possible alternative. The leaders have both been involved with CARM (Creative Arts Retreat Movement) events in the past, so although this is not a CARM retreat, it will have similarities.

One of the leaders, Pauline Stammers, has been on CARM retreats as a retreatant for over thirty years, and has been involved in embroidery, knitting and crochet since childhood.  She prefers crewel embroidery but has done tapestry and cross stitch in the past. As someone involved in card-making she can demonstrate ways to use the finished pieces as bookmarks.

The other leader, Margaret Stein, is a retired Church of Scotland minister who has been leading CARM retreats for over 20 years. Although paint is her usual medium, she also enjoys working with threads and a needle.

The retreat will take place on Wednesday October 21.

We suggest retreatants make a donation to Quiet Waters Christian Retreat House, Flixton Road, Bungay, Suffolk NR35 1PD,
