Church based contact centre seeks volunteers
A Contact Centre in a Norwich church, providing a safe and supportive environment for children of separated parents to meet with their non-resident parent, is seeking volunteers.
St Mary’s Contact Centre normally operates at Norwich Central Baptist Church every other Saturday morning. The centre enables children with separated and divorced parents to meet with their non-resident parent in a safe and welcoming venue. It is run by a group of volunteers who are supported by an employed coordinator.
The centre has not been able to operate due to Covid restrictions but hopes to open in late May. Several of the centre's previous volunteers are unable to continue and more volunteers are needed to operate safely. The Centre is in need people who are sensitive to the needs of the parents and the children, and can work with them in a calm, caring and non-judgemental manner. If you think this might be something you can help with, please contact Rosemary Horbury on email@example.com for more information.
The above picture shows the centre in pre-Covid times. When we open again initially we will not provide refreshments, and families will be asked to bring their own toys. Tables will be more spaced out and other Covid secure measures will be employed.
