Help Rachael support Saltmine Christian theatre

Saltmine Trust CEO, Rachael Orrell, who is helping Celebrate Norfolk to stage a first-ever Passion Play on the streets of Norwich at Easter 2022, is cycling through Scotland to raise money for the well-known Christian theatre company.

On August 22, Rachael and husband Mark will be braving the Scottish hills and cycling 100km in the Etape Loch Ness Cycle.
“It is a personal sponsored challenge in celebration of Dudley-based Saltmine Trust's 40th anniversary in 2020,” said Rachael. “The unforeseen Covid-19 pandemic hit last year which meant the Etape Loch Ness Cycle was postponed. I have set myself a £10,000 target to help Saltmine not just survive but champion and innovate the creative arts in this season.
“Theatre was one of the hardest-hit industries during the Covid pandemic. All of Saltmine's touring plans were cancelled, and we had to adapt our work to reach people digitally and safely. Consequently, we have had to adopt a new business model, finding innovative ways to connect with audiences, to impact young people and to support virtual learning in schools,” said Rachael.
“Three years ago I started cycling as part of the Chawn Wheelettes, a women’s cycling group formed from Chawn Hill Church members and local community cyclists. Our usual routine is a weekly cycle on local country routes. I find the exercise, beautiful scenery and friendship an enriching time, especially when the sun shines.”
