Cathy LulandNew manager for Norwich Christian resource centre

Revelation Norwich has appointed a new manager to run the Christian Resource Centre which comprises a bookshop and popular café in the city.

Cathy Luland started volunteering at Revelation four years ago. She later took on a part-time paid role and has now been appointed to the position of centre manager.

Cathy is passionate about giving all visitors a warm welcome, whether they wish to browse, seek advice or enjoy tasty refreshments in the café.

Having worked in librarianship throughout her career, which involved buying books for the libraries within Norfolk, Cathy is well suited to the role of centre manager. A committed Christian, she has a desire to build relationships with people, share God’s love with others, as well as a wealth of knowledge about Christian literature – she has read many of the books on the shelves! She said, “You’ve got to know your stuff!”

Revelation is one of the largest Christian resource centres outside of London, and its appeal derives from the wide range of resources available under one roof. Cathy is excited about the forthcoming Norwich Passion Play and the opportunity it will give people to explore the Christian faith. She said, “I’m hoping that people will see the Passion Play, which will spark some interest and they will come in and see the resources we have here.” Cathy has created a ‘Christian basics’ section on the shelves specifically for people exploring the faith for the first time.

I would like to encourage people to come back and see the range of resources we have on offer – or come and visit us for the first time. We have plans to develop the website to cater for people’s needs.”

The shelves at Revelation are stocked with Bibles, children’s resources, cards, theology books, secondhand books, gifts and extensive materials for Easter.

Cathy has been a Christian since she went to college in London. She is a member of Norwich Central Baptist Church. She said, “I love Norfolk and have lived here for many years.”

Philip Talbot, Chair of Trustees, said, "We are delighted to appoint Cathy into this role. She will be a familiar face to many and will use the wealth of experience and knowledge she has acquired in her previous working life, as a committed Christian and since joining Revelation to help us pick up the pace following the pandemic. The trustees look forward to working alongside and supporting Cathy and encourage you all to spread the word that Revelation has much to offer, not least great food and great books!
