Corton House, a not-for-profit Christian organisation which runs a care home and neighbouring independent living site on City Road, Norwich, is celebrating the return of its annual Summer Fun Day to be held in the onsite gardens on August 27 11am-4pm, with free entry.

“Historically, our summer fete has always been a popular annual event but obviously the pandemic has meant we haven’t been able to host it in the past couple of years.” says General Manager Tom Greenhill.

Fundraising Coordinator Imogen Bowers adds “Our tenants, residents and staff are keen to re-establish our connections with the local community and raise funds for a scheme of refurbishment within the home, allowing us to provide interior-designed rooms and dedicated areas for games, reminiscence and visits from loved ones.

Residents like brothers David and Roy, who recently moved into Corton House just weeks apart, or friends Norma and Lilian, who are completing 70 jigsaw puzzles across the year in celebration of our 70th anniversary, will really benefit from these improvements.

What better way to do this than with a day of family fun? We are hoping to have something everyone can enjoy, whether they’re 2 or 102!”

There will be food, live music, a smoothie bike, maker’s market and a charity raffle with some brilliant prizes including £250 cash, £250 holiday vouchers, a luxury hamper, restaurant vouchers, a coffee machine and more. Tickets are £1 each and can be purchased on the day or by emailing ibowers@cortonhouse.co.uk.

While little ones can enjoy the usual fete games and stalls, Corton House are keen to offer something geared towards older people in line with their charitable objectives. As such, the Fun Day will host an Age UK Norwich pop up advice hub and a workshop from Dance To Health, a pioneering older people’s fall prevention dance programme.
