Norwich church hosts community fun day
A free community fun day featuring games, face-painting, balloon modelling and refreshments will be held in Norwich on August 27.
This is the third year the family-friendly event will be held at Norwich Central Baptist Church on Duke Street close to the city. Organisers are building on the success of the event in previous years and would like to invite everyone from the local community, whether they live nearby or are visiting the city on the day to drop in for some fun.
Pastor Rev Tom Madders said, “Last year’s event was fantastic. So many people use our building throughout the week for various groups and activities and it was great to welcome them to this free event. Several people saw that something was going on – a clue might have been the crazy golf in the car park! - and dropped in for the first time.”
The church runs a popular and well-established toddler group called ‘Cafe Tots’ on Wednesdays during term time. Tom said, “We’re on count-down to the school holidays right now, but by the end of August it can be a challenge for parents to find inexpensive, entertaining ways to keep the kids occupied, which is why we’re putting this event on mid-week.”
Tom says that the event isn’t only for families with children. “People of all ages belong to our community, and we look forward to welcoming anybody to drop in for refreshments and a chat. This is part of our mission of making Jesus known by being a blessing to our community and offering everyone a place of welcome and hospitality.”
