Connect with God in a wild N Norfolk wood
2016: Code Unleashed is a chance to get out into the open, have a laugh with some other guys, ‘walk on the wild side’ in the great outdoors, but more importantly spend time connecting with God, maybe for the first time! And of course, eat! Tony Rothe reports.
The Code Unleashed day is being organised by Simon Fenn, Head of Mission at Cromer Church and North Norfolk co-ordinator for Christian Vision for Men (CVM), with Stephen Gladwell, from Norwich Central Baptist Church who is the CVM area co-ordinator for Norwich; along with http://global-adventure.org/.
Simon says “Stephen and I are passionate about Men's Ministry and keen to promote this important aspect of ministry across the area. Research by Tearfund has shown that when it comes to winning the family to Christ, this happens 3.5% of the time by following the child, 17% of the time following the mother and 93% of the time following the father. If you can get the Dad, you get the whole family.
“The CODE Unleashed is an action packed day for men who fancy themselves as a 'Bear Grylls' kind of guy or just like being outdoors. It's a day for ordinary men who want to have a laugh; you'll get the chance make a fire, build a sling shot, throw some axes, eat food and hear about walking closer to Jesus. It will be a great day to deepen your faith but not too 'cheesy' to bring a ‘not-yet-believing’ mates to.”
The event will take place from 10am to 3pm on Saturday November 12 in a wood at Suffield, just outside Aylsham, in North Norfolk.
The cost is from £15 each, which includes lunch and a steady flow of hot drinks!
The website says: “As Christian men, by nature we take our place fighting in a ‘greater battle’. So at the Code Unleashed day, along with your men’s group, mates or just by yourself, we’ll look to deepen our understanding and commitment to serving God side-by-side as a ‘band of brothers’.
The Code Unleashed day will be a packed and memorable occasion. You’ll get ‘tooled-up’ to stand stronger in the spiritual battles that take place in our families, work places, communities and churches. Even in our own lives."

CVM is a National Evangelistic Men's Movement whose vision is to win a million men to Christ. Started by Max Sinclair in the 1980's, their priority is to partner with churches and equip them with the tools and resources to make church a great place for ordinary blokes and help them connect with a loving God. CVM doesn't want a church dominated by men or male characteristics nor do they want to make church a men’s club, just a place where men can be gripped, excited and transformed by Jesus - it's as simple as that!
