Come and Sing Gloria at Sheringham church
The Sheringham & Cromer Choral Society is inviting everyone to a free workshop to rehearse and perform Vivaldi’s Gloria at St Andrews Methodist Church in Sheringham on October 12.
The Come & Sing workshop open to all members of the community and is a free event thanks to funding from North Norfolk District Council as a fringe event in the Coast Arts Festival.
Bob Cumber, Publicity Manager for the Sheringham and Cromer Choral Society, said “This free workshop is open to all - new and experienced singers alike - under the guidance of our Musical Director, David Ballard. Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria is a highly popular vibrant and exciting work so this will undoubtedly be a highly enjoyable day. This event kick starts our "Sing North Norfolk" campaign which aims to promote good spiritual, mental and physical health through singing“.
The day will start at 10.00 am with registration, and the workshop will run until approximately 3pm, when there will be a free informal concert performance open to all friends, family and anyone else who would like to join the group to hear the results of the day's work.
The concert will also include a performance by choral society members of one movement from Matthew Coleridge's Requiem which will be performed in full as part of the society’s November 23 concert at St Peters Church in Sheringham.
St Andrew's Methodist Church is on Cromer Road in Sheringham, NR26 8SA. Please note that on site car parking is limited but there are public car parks nearby and 3 hours free parking is permitted at the adjacent Tesco supermarket car park.
There will be refreshment breaks during the day - participants are advised to either bring a packed lunch or take advantage of one of the many eating places in Sheringham.
Although this is a free event open to all, prior booking IS required. To book a place please contact Jo Hurrell, preferably by Email at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 01263 711 087.
Please advise details of your voice part (if you know it!) - Soprano, Alto, Tenor or Bass - and whether you have your own copy of the score or wish to borrow one on the day.
