New book reveals battles of Norfolk pastor
A young Norfolk church pastor has just released his first book, based on the story of his own battle with depression and the crippling effects of childhood abuse.
Daniel Holland is assistant pastor at charismatic The Way Church with senior pastors Gordon and Gill Tanner in Hunstanton, North West Norfolk.
‘Through the Tunnel, Free at Last’ chronicles his long battle with, and eventual victory over, paralysing fear, deep depression and the crippling effects of childhood abuse. At every stage it is his determined faith and the faithfulness of God and Christians around him that leads him into more freedom.
Well-known Christian author and counsellor, Jennifer Rees Larcombe, said: “As a counsellor, working with people who have suffered childhood trauma and abuse I was deeply impressed by Daniel’s book. It is brilliantly written, gripping right to the last page and vividly shows us how it feels to be mentally ill.
“It will not only encourage those living with depression, anxiety, eating disorders and fractured personalities but it will be informative for their families; a useful teaching tool for professionals and a vital resource for people in the Christian Healing ministry."
Christian author and pastor, Francis Frangipane
, said: “Daniel Holland’s sharing of how Christ delivered him of many years of torment will give hope to those who struggle with fear, depression and mental illness. The perseverance of Daniel to hold on to the faithfulness of God is revealed on every page. Through the tunnel is a great resource in helping those who struggle with mental or emotional battles.”
The publishers say: “This book is a must for anyone looking for hope and help in overcoming abuse or depression but also for pastors and cell group leaders who want to understand and counsel people who are struggling with these issues. It is a compelling and hard hitting book.”
