Downham Christians host famous Watoto Choir
The world-famous Watoto Children’s Choir will be giving a free concert in West Norfolk on Friday 17 February hosted by Downham Market Christian Fellowship.
The choir will be appearing in Downham as part of their “Beautiful Africa: A New Generation” tour. The tour includes performances in the USA, Canada, Australia and South Africa. While in the UK, the choir will also be singing at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
The choir is made up of children rescued by the Ugandan-based Christian charity Watoto. Each member of the choir has suffered the loss of at least one parent, as a result of HIV/AIDS, war or poverty. They live in Watoto Children’s Villages, where they receive care and education.
The concert will include vibrant, original African music, dance routines, and life-transforming stories.
Nam Tong, of Downham Market Christian Fellowship said, “It is so exciting for Downham that such an internationally-acclaimed choir will be performing in our town. I hope that many local people will take the opportunity to come along to what will be a thoroughly enjoyable and wonderful experience”.
The concert, which will begin at 7.00pm
