Retired priest weds at hospital bedside

MarriagePrep3142012: A retired Church of England priest based in Dereham got married just hours before her groom had to undergo a high risk heart procedure at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

Charles Green and the Rev Jenny Taylor arranged their rush wedding at the hospital after being told Mr Green’s chances of survival were slim. But against the odds, the 87-year-old is now recovering at home and hoping to go on honeymoon.

The couple, who live next door to each other in Eckling Grange, the Christian residential care home and sheltered accommodation, have been inseparable since they were first introduced by a friend just over six years ago, after Rev Taylor moved to Dereham following the death of her late husband.

Rev Taylor, who is keeping her previous marital surname, is officially retired but still involved with St Nicholas’ Church in Dereham and its five associated churches.
