Norwich Baptists unite to celebrate growth

LoadsabaptistsThanks to a local pastor's vision, Baptist churches in Norwich are forming a united front by regularly joining their congregations together in prayer, worship and outreach.

The Baptist church was officially recognised in Norwich in 1669 and this year Norwich Baptists will be joining together to celebrate their long history of proclaiming the Good News.

In the 344 years since it was established, the Baptist church in Norwich has grown considerably and has gathererd in many different locations throughout the city. Today, congregations can be found at Costessey, Duke Street (Norwich Central Baptist Church), Silver Road and Witard Road.

James East, a minister at Norwich Central, said, "For many years, David Adams (minister of Witard Road) has felt that God is calling all of us Baptists into a closer relationship with each other. Slowly, but surely, this lovely vision has caught on. We've come to believe that we can serve this city better together. We're all very excited to see what our Father has planned for His Kingdom and His glory."

Last Sunday evening (January 27) saw the first of many combined services.

In May, there will be a week of activities and an outreach event called 'Festival 344'. The Opening Celebration will be held on May 12 at Witard Road Baptist Church.

I was just thinking "I have been an atheist for years, I go to anti-war protests so often that I was denied a security clearance, and I believe in free higher education for everyone. I was already liberal as, what the hell do you think college looks like?"
