Ipswich Road URC reaches out to children and youth

Table-footballAs part of our Christian witness within our local community at Ipswich Road United Reformed Church, we run two weekly youth clubs in school term time.

On Wednesdays, between 3.30 and 5 pm, we run a club for 6 to 10 year-olds on our Church premises and led by our Children’s and Families’ Worker. The sessions begin with toast and a hot drink, followed by organised activities, involving crafts and one-to-one games and are rounded off by a game (or two) for all to join in.

On Fridays, we run a Drop In for 11 to 15 year-olds at the Harford Community Centre on the Tuckswood Estate between 4 and 6 pm. It is, as its name suggests, an opportunity for youngsters to “drop in” and to stay as long as they wish. Most stay for most of the time and take part in either organised craft activities or amuse themselves with activities such as pool, table tennis, board games or a Wi. Hot and cold drinks and biscuits are also provided. This club is led by our experienced volunteers.

Both clubs are an opportunity for youngsters to relax and be themselves at the end of a school day. For our part, they are an opportunity to witness to Christ in our community and share with the youngsters God’s love for us all.
