Oasis Uganda welcome Norwich church team
Members of Holy Trinity’s CYFA youth group and their leaders from Norwich are working alongside Oasis Uganda for two weeks during August, supporting the work they do in Mbale and Kampala.
After a long flight and a seven-hour bus journey the team arrived in Mbale where they are helping in a pre-school, teaching, decorating and building a playground.
Other activities included playing football against a church team, where they eventually beat the under 10s but couldn't handle the under 14s team, and when they arrive in Kampala they will be helping Oasis give catch-up lessons in maths, English and basic hygiene as well as teaching them how to play netball.
The team are experiencing the challenges of working in the heat of Central Africa, as well as living without running water, eating too much rice and suffering limited internet connection!
Specific requests from the team include prayer for continued good health, energy, running water so people can wash, and that parents take note of the amount of rice they are eating and do not cook this for at least a week after the group arrive home!
A blog is updated periodically (when internet access allows), so for more information from the team please check out http://cyfauganda.blogspot.co.uk/
The pictures show some of the activities the team have been undertaking whilst in Africa.
