Norwich church responds to community issues

QuestionsCF430A Norwich church is responding to the concerns of over 500 of its parishioners, expressed as part of the Who Cares? survey, by putting on a series of sessions in the church and local pub to address the issues raised.

Over the summer, St Andrew's Eaton took part in the Who Cares? project. Local people were invited to fill in cards, anonymously, asking “What hurts the most?”. In the St Andrew's locality, around 500 people responded.

Now the church is acting on these responses with a programme of events especially focussed on the main areas of concern identified. Everyone in the area is warmly invited to come, especially if they feel this is a real area of need for them, said project co-ordinator Jenny Holcombe.

“Some of the sessions will be at the church, and some at the Cellar House pub. Wherever they take place, they’ll be relaxed, with opportunities to discuss and to share ideas,” said Jenny.

The sessions are

  • Sunday 5 October, 10am at St Andrew’s Church
  • ‘Harvest Thanksgiving – Inequality & Social Injustice’
  • Friday 17 October, 8pm at The Cellar House
  • ‘Coping with Stress’
  • Sunday 2 November, 8pm at The Cellar House
  • ‘Coping with Betrayal and Relationships that Backfire’
  • Sunday 16 November, 10am, at St Andrew’s Church
  • ‘Coping with the Reality of Suffering’
  • Sunday 7 December, 6.30pm, at St Andrew’s Church
  • ‘Coping with the Harshness of Death’
