How to get yourself noticed...
2015: ...Or rather your churches, Christian organizations, or regular or one-off events. Christians across North Norfolk are being offered the chance to attend a media workshop to help them communicate and promote their activities more effectively to a wider audience.
The aim of the afternoon event in Sheringham on Thursday April 23, is to help churches and other Christian groups better communicate what they are doing through the use of press releases, news stories, pictures, the web and resources such as Network Norfolk, which this year is marking ten years of serving the local Christian community.
The workshop will be run by journalist and Christian media professional, Keith Morris, who is editor and publisher of the award-winning Network Norfolk website, and who has experience in local newspapers, magazine publishing, websites and corporate communications. He will be joined by the website’s North Norfolk content editor Tony Rothe.
Some of the topics covered will include:
What makes a good news story and how to write one
How to write a press release and get it published
What’s different about writing for the web
How to recognise and take a good news photo
How to use Network Norfolk to promote what you are doing
Keith said: “The aim of the session is to help equip churches and Christian groups to first recognize and then be able to tell some of the great stories that come out of their important work. Also to be able to promote their events and activities in a way which makes them attractive to the wider community using words, pictures, the web and great resources such as Network Norfolk.”
The workshop will provide plenty of opportunities to ask questions and discuss the topics covered, and will take place at Lighthouse, 62 Cromer Road, Sheringham, NR26 8RT from 2pm to 4.30pm on Thursday April 23.
Places are limited so that we can provide an individual service, so please reply quickly if you want to come along. The cost is £10 per person, or £15 for two people, which includes tea/coffee and biscuits.
Lighthouse Café will be open before the event serving snacks and light lunches until 1.30pm.
Please book by printing off this form, and sending it, with a cheque for £10 or £15 payable to Network Norwich, to Tony Rothe, 8 St Austins Grove, Sheringham, Norfolk, NR26 8DF.
