Helpers wanted at Norwich lunch club

Maureen Bond lunch club
Volunteers are wanted to help at Chapel Field Road Lunch club in Norwich, which meets on Mondays and serves nutritious meals to elderly people.

The club was founded over 30 years ago and now meets at Chapel Field Road Methodist Church. It is popular and a much-needed service to around 50 people who attend each week. The club has been described as a 'hub of laughter' and has a vital impact on people who might otherwise be lonely and isolated.

Terry Baxter, who currently volunteers at the club says new volunteers are needed for the work to continue. "We urgently need people to help prepare the food, serve and wash up afterwards. If you have a couple of hours to spare on a Monday between about 9.30 and 1pm, we'd really like to hear from you."

Terry joked that some of the volunteers are almost as elderly as the members of the club so some new helpers would be appreciated!

If you would like to get involved please contact Gill or Terry Baxter on 01603 413534
