Enjoy the Upton Family Walk for Norwich foodbank

Norwich foodbank is encouraging supporters to take part in the Upton Family Walk, a 6 mile mapped walk organised by Norwich Centenary Rotary Club, to raise sponsorship to help support local people in crisis.

On May 21 Norwich Centenary Rotary Club will host The Upton Family Walk giving individuals and families the chance to enjoy beautiful Norfolk countryside and raise money for their chosen charity at the same time. Norwich foodbank is asking families and individuals to consider participating in the charity walk to raise sponsorship to help provide emergency food and support to local people in difficult circumstances.

The Upton Family Walk (which was previously known as The Acle Charity Walk) will start from Upton Village Hall between 9am – 10am on Sunday, May 21.

The 6 mile walk within the Broads National Park has been mapped by Norfolk Wildlife Trust and will include a treasure trail for children.  There will also be a photography competition and refreshments.

Hannah Worsley, Norwich foodbank Project Manager said: “Norwich foodbank is a not-for-profit charity and with no statutory support or income we rely heavily on grants and donations to help support people who find themselves on the edge of disaster through the provision of emergency food supplies.

“The Upton Family Walk is an opportunity to enjoy spectacular views of the River Bure, have some fun while looking out for dragonflies, kingfishers and herons, all while raising money for Norwich foodbank and helping to provide emergency food to local people in crisis”.

There is an entrance fee of £6 per adult if registered in advance (£7.50 on the day) and children under 16 walk free, which covers the organisation of the walk.  All monies raised via sponsorship will go direct to your chosen charity.

Unfortunately the route isn’t suitable for wheelchair users or buggies due to some of the route being potentially boggy.
