Good Friday Cross Sheringham 2

Resurrection celebrations in Sheringham

2017: Easter celebrations by the churches in Sheringham included a walk of witness and a Son-rise service, including bacon rolls! Tony Rothe reports.

Easter Sonrise beeston hump 20Sheringham churches joined together on Good Friday for a united service in St Peters church followed by the usual walk of witness to nearby landmark Beeston Hill, via the town centre clock-tower, where the crowd paused for prayers and worship. The cross was erected on the hill, where it will stay for a few days as a witness to the town and to holidaymakers. The above picture shows the cross being carried to the hill.

Hardy Christians climbed the hill again at dawn on Easter Sunday for a Son-Rise service, pictured right, which was followed by bacon rolls at the Yesu centre in the town.

The various churches in the town all held their own celebrations of Christ’s resurrection, including the removal of the large cross outside Lighthouse Community Church on Cromer Road, which had been erected on Maundy Thursday, pictured below.
