YMCA Norfolk is looking for Volunteer Counsellors 

YMCAIconPurple300YMCA Norfolk is looking for Volunteers Counsellors for its Peace of Mind Counselling Service to offer counselling to young people aged 16-25 years old, in the Norwich and Great Yarmouth areas.

Main Purpose:

To offer counselling to young people aged 16- 25 years old, in Norwich and/or Great Yarmouth Areas. The counselling is held at our offices on Exchange Street, Norwich or one of our Accommodation Services in Norwich or Great Yarmouth.

  • As a minimum, Volunteer Counsellors must be in the second year of a recognised Counselling Diploma course and signed off as ready to practice by their course tutor.
Alternatively you will be studying towards one of the following qualifications:
  • Degree or Masters in Counselling, Counselling/Clinical Psychology, Psychotherapy or Art Therapy
Job Description:

It is a requirement that Counsellors will:
Undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) check before starting with us. This will be arranged and paid for by YMCA Norfolk prior to the start of placement.
  • Work therapeutically with individual clients on a one to one basis.
  • Arrange sessions with referred clients.
  • Contact clients within five working days of receiving the referral.
  • Work within the Ethical Framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
  • Ensure an appropriate level of individual supervision is in place to meet BACP requirements.
  • Be sympathetic to the values and aims of YMCA Norfolk and comply with relevant policies and procedures.
