YMCA Norfolk is looking for Volunteer Counsellors
YMCA Norfolk is looking for Volunteers Counsellors for its Peace of Mind Counselling Service to offer counselling to young people aged 16-25 years old, in the Norwich and Great Yarmouth areas.
To offer counselling to young people aged 16- 25 years old, in Norwich and/or Great Yarmouth Areas. The counselling is held at our offices on Exchange Street, Norwich or one of our Accommodation Services in Norwich or Great Yarmouth.
As a minimum, Volunteer Counsellors must be in the second year of a recognised Counselling Diploma course and signed off as ready to practice by their course tutor.
Alternatively you will be studying towards one of the following qualifications:
It is a requirement that Counsellors will:
Degree or Masters in Counselling, Counselling/Clinical Psychology, Psychotherapy or Art Therapy
Undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) check before starting with us. This will be arranged and paid for by YMCA Norfolk prior to the start of placement.
Work therapeutically with individual clients on a one to one basis.
Arrange sessions with referred clients.
Contact clients within five working days of receiving the referral.
Work within the Ethical Framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Ensure an appropriate level of individual supervision is in place to meet BACP requirements.
Be sympathetic to the values and aims of YMCA Norfolk and comply with relevant policies and procedures.
