Ormesby St Margaret church funds boost

A gift day in aid of Ormesby St Margaret’s medieval village church has brought in over £2000, with more money still coming in.

The cash boost is needed now more than ever according to chairman of the friends’ group and church treasurer Geoff Freeman. A five-year inspection had just revealed that the tower needs an overhaul, likely to cost some £500,000. Although the church is in largely good condition, it is likely that there will be a need to refurbish the tower, parapet, and put a new roof on it. And the whole tower will need re-pointing. Work is expected to take place in 2020 and take two years.

It is hoped that much of the cost will be met by Lottery and other funders, but community involvement will be needed for the balance. Donations welcome at the rectory in Church View.
