Light-themed outreach for Sheringham children
2018: The Sheringham BeachLife team will be following up the huge success of their cliff-top outreach in August by organising a Light Party on Wednesday October 31, and all children of primary school age are welcome to come along. Tony Rothe reports.
There will be a variety of games, crafts, competitions and fun activities, all on the theme of light. There will also be a version of the “Beach Special” which always proves so popular in the summer outreach, with music, challenges, and a short talk. Pizza and drinks will also be provided later in the afternoon.
Peter Skivington, one of the organisers said, “As the evenings pull in, and everywhere seems to be getting darker, it’s good for the kids in Sheringham to enjoy an afternoon that focuses on light, rather than darkness, and we’ll be reminding them that Jesus said ‘I am the Light of the World’”.
“The work of BeachLife through the year has been generously supported by the Sheringham Poors and Ploughlets Trust, which has enabled us to do so much more to provide these free activities for local children” explained BeachLife treasurer Tony Rothe.
The BeachLife Light Party will run from 3.30pm to 5.30pm at St Peters Church in Sheringham, NR26 8QS, and is open to all children from 4 to 11.
The team are already planning for another “BeachLife Extra” Fun Day during the February half term.
