Norwich prayer meeting focuses on our community

The next meeting of ‘Transforming the Atmosphere’ at the House of Prayer on Fishergate, Norwich, will be on Monday March 18 and will focus on the opportunities arising from the recent ROC conversation.

‘Transforming the Atmosphere’ continues to build upon the specialist teaching of Revd Dr Alistair Petrie (after his three visits in 2015, 2016 and 2017), and has developed a ministry that combines socio-historical research with informed prayer-walking and a continuing discipline of humbly seeking the Lord for fresh insight.
Following the successful ‘Redeeming Our Communities’ meeting in February and recent publication of the disseminated summary of those conversations, prayers will centre on the work of the ROC Action Group as it emerges and the opportunities that stand before the wider church.
Prayer will also be offered for those agencies that are clearly stretched in their delivery of vital services in and around Norwich.
Nigel Fox said, "We are grateful for all the statutory agencies and voluntary groups that offer so much for us as a society. But we are all too aware that many deep-seated and complex needs cannot be tackled effectively by the hard work of a single agency, even if well-resourced, and that the coordinated efforts of multi-agency work are now the order of the day."
“Similarly, just as no single church can offer all that’s needed these days, we need each other to be more effective. Trusting that ‘together everyone achieves more’, these are times for the wider church to develop a new teamwork approach with appropriate agencies for the wider benefit of the city and beyond.
“Having been at prayer for such dialogue, we are so encouraged by the recent conversations, and yet we long to see the wider church coming together to pray together and starting to work together in joined-up mission. Our desire is to see a city-wide transformation – for good. If that’s akin to your desire, why not join us?”
‘Transforming the Atmosphere’ meets monthly on third Mondays at 7.30pm at the House of Prayer, on Fishergate, Norwich, NR3 1SE. All are most welcome to join together in prayer.

The Network Norwich & Norfolk website has been published for over 13 years now and we have an established team of professional journalists covering the activities, organisations and churches which make up the county’s Christian community. Our whole purpose is to support that community by daily providing accurate, unbiased stories and features.
