Norwich foodbank needs trustee for new project
Norwich foodbank is embarking on a Pathfinder project with the Trussell Trust to help foodbanks develop and execute their own strategic plan for reducing the need for their services and needs a new trustee to oversee the project.
Norwich foodbank project manager, Hannah Worsley, said: “The aim of this exciting project is to develop a long-term strategy which will focus on how we can most effectively help those with a lived experience of food poverty, not just by providing emergency food parcels but also in a wider, more sustainable, way. In particular, we will be seeking to develop the advocacy, campaigning and communication elements of our work.
“We are now keen to appoint a trustee who will help to oversee the project and provide guidance to the current trustees and myself on how to develop this new area of work. We are particularly keen to recruit someone with project management experience and an enthusiasm for developing our work in this way.
“We currently have a team of six trustees who oversee the foodbank’s work and who meet six or seven times a year for no more than two hours each time,” said Hannah. “As part of their oversight role, the trustees main work is to ensure we are a good employer for our staff and for our volunteers; monitor the foodbank’s finances; review the various policies we have in place; and generally, ensure that we are well run and effective in what we do.
“Norwich foodbank is a charity founded on Christian principles. Not every member of our team is a Christian but we all subscribe to the same values and hope that new members of the team, including trustees, will too.”
